Belief and Believing

Belief and Believing

We all have thoughts and ideas that we believe are true – they are our beliefs. Beliefs are our thoughts and ideas. Our beliefs don’t have to be scientifically proven. Our actions (both conscious and subconscious) are based on our beliefs. Our beliefs shape our experiences and effects the actions we take in life.

So, ask yourself, What do I believe? How has this affected my life?

Have you heard of the placebo effect? The power of believing lets you influence your body in ways you may seem astounding. If a person believes that he/she will get well from for example taking a medication for something, it will happen regardless if the tablet contains medication or not. That is how powerful the mind is when we believe in something.

The thoughts, the pictures, the ideas you put in your mind is what ultimately turns what you want into reality.
So, why not pretend believing and becoming absorbed in the idea of how you want to be or what it is you want in life.

Just as a magnifying glass can focus rays of sunshine, you can focus your mental energy to make your thought, ideas and beliefs real for your body.

You may not always get what you want, but you do get what you expect. Expectations contain the energy of beliefs and become the results of what is believed.

You have the ability to choose your beliefs. Hav you ever heard of “Seeing is believing”? This is pretty easy to do. You experience something with your sense, and that is a familiar way of choosing what is believable or not. Our mind loves what is familiar.

Ask yourself, do you let the world tell you what is true or what to believe?

Remember, you have the choice in what to believe.

Did you know that our subconscious mind cannot differentiate in between what is real or not? The subconscious mind only acts upon what is you want, believe and expect. So, why to expect what you want?!

Your body-mind also perceives your beliefs based on your underlying feeling.
Affirmations are a wonderful way of creating positive ideas and beliefs. If there is resistance to the affirmation, keep going? It will eventually stick, if you put feelings into believing it.

When your belief about something change, they do not revert to old beliefs that are no longer true. Your success is predicted by your motivation, beliefs and expectations. You will see what you believe.

Reality is what we take to be true.
What we take to be true is what we believe.
What we believe is based upon our perceptions.
What we perceive depends upon what we look for.
What we look for depends upon what we think.
What we think depends upon what we perceive.
What we perceive determines what we believe.
What we believe determines what we take to be true.
What we take to be true is our reality.

The body and mind connection

Did you know that thoughts, emotions and behavior affect our wellbeing?
Our emotional wellbeing can be affected by significant life events such as suffering an illness or injury, moving to a new home, having financial problems, dealing with death of a loved one, getting divorce or married.
Changes in life can be stressful and it “good” changes can be as stressful as “bad” changes.

The body is amazing!

Your body is a feedback mechanism and will let you know when something is not right. The body responds to the way you think, feel and the things you do.
You might experience back pain, high blood pressure, insomnia, chest pain, weigh loss or gain etc. and these “signs” are the bodies ways of telling you that you are “out of balance”.

Poor emotional health can weaken your immune system and create disease in the body.

Listen to your body!

Here are a few tips on how you can improve your emotional wellbeing and to understand the body, mind connection:

• Become more in tune with your emotions and why you have them.
• Try to understand the cause/ find the cause of your emotions such as sadness, stress & anxiety.
• Have a balance lifestyle. Make time for things you love doing and spend time with people you love and that support you and what you do.
• Practice meditation/relaxation and deep breathing. Perhaps start doing Pilates or Yoga.
• Take care of yourself, eat well and do things that are going to bring your body into a good healthy, happy state.
• Make sure you get enough sleep.
• Stay away from drugs and alcohol

Are You in control of your Health?

Are you healthy & fit?

If your answer is yes – that is great but if you don’t feel 100 % healthy and fit, do you feel you can influence this in any way by how you think and feel? Do you believe that you can feel as you did when you were a child – when your body was light, you were flexible and moved effortless and your mind was clear, you did not stress and you slept deeply? I think this is they way we should feel to feel great! So, do you think you are in any way in control of feeling this way?

I would say that the way you think about health or disease is what you will attract. If you believe that you are fat or find it hard to loose weight – then that will become your reality, if you think you always catch colds when winter comes then surely you will, if you think and feel that you are stiff and sore in your joints then your joints will stiffen up more and more.

What you believe and feel about your health and fitness is true for you and whatever you will believe will eventually show up even if you don’t want it or not.

So, if you want to improve your health & fitness you will also have to work on changing your beliefs and make them positive.

I tell myself everyday – “I am a healthy, fit and happy human being”.

Have you ever noticed that whatever you fear the most tends to show up? You might fear to catch that awful flu that is going around, and surely not long after you end up with that cold. I am sure most of you have heard of the Placebo effect. This is when people are give sugar pills without knowing they are sugar pills, they believe the are giving medicine that will cure them, and most of the time these people tend to recover or improve this condition. This confirms how powerful your beliefs are.

So, my tip to you is to think positively and do daily affirmations that support your health. When you do this also feel the way you feel when you say the affirmations. For example, if you say, “ I am an energetic person and I radiate health”, make sure you feel how it feels to be energetic and how it feels to radiate health. How do you stand, look, walk etc.?

By working on changing some of your beliefs and doing the work you need to improve your health i.e. eat better or exercise more you will be one step closer to being in control of your health.

Remember: “Healthy Body – Healthy Mind”
